The History

Barão da Várzea do Douro is a new wine brand created by the Lencastre family, descendants of Antão Garcês Pinto de Madureira, first awarded the title of Barão da Várzea do Douro by Queen Maria II on July 16, 1846.

Along the right bank of the Douro River, in the Baixo Corgo sub-region, we found the ideal terroir for the production of wines that express the entire personality of the Douro based on the most typical varieties of the region such as Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, Arinto, Viosinho, Rabigato or Gouveio.
